Cimolai Technology supports Sydney’s Western Harbour Tunnel with custom 500-ton cranes
Two engineered overhead cranes play a central role in one of Australia’s most ambitious underground infrastructure projects.
Cimolai Technology is contributing to a major milestone in Australia’s infrastructure development: the NSW Government’s Western Harbour Tunnel project in Sydney. Recently featured on the front page of The Sydney Morning Herald, the project includes the construction of a 6.5-kilometre twin-tunnel link connecting WestConnex to the Warringah Freeway, creating a new underground crossing beneath Sydney Harbour.
For this demanding project, Cimolai Technology designed and supplied two custom-engineered overhead cranes, each offering a 500-ton lifting capacity. The cranes operate within vast underground caverns and are engineered to guarantee safe, precise, and reliable handling in one of Australia’s most challenging tunnelling and construction environments.
Their performance enables the accurate positioning and movement of materials required throughout excavation and assembly phases — supporting project safety, efficiency, and overall workflow continuity.
This installation demonstrates Cimolai Technology’s commitment to delivering high-performance lifting solutions for large-scale infrastructure and transportation projects worldwide.
