Cimolai Technology contributed to creating the highest open-air building ascent in the world: City Climb, located above the Edge observation platform in New York, reaching over 1,200 ft (~387 m) in height.
Key Features
Pathway: approximately 150 m (500 ft) long, composed of duplex stainless-steel rail segments—straight, inclined, and curved—precisely fitted onto the building structure.
Safety trolley: made from high-strength aerospace-grade aluminum, extremely precise tolerances, weighing under 2 kg, and successfully tested up to 5,000 kg (~11,000 lbs).
Fall-protection system: includes a fixed gear and internal pawl in the trolley, preventing backward falls over the 161-step ascent.
