Cimolai Technology completes sea transfer of two 800-ton Goliath cranes

Exceptional barge transport successfully concluded; rail positioning completed in Monfalcone. Final fitting, testing and commissioning underway.

Cimolai Technology is proud to announce the official completion of the relocation of two 800-ton Goliath cranes from our Chioggia yard to Fincantieri’s Monfalcone shipyard.

The transfer was carried out by sea as an exceptional transport operation, using a dedicated barge. This complex project involved multiple specialized operators, and we would like to express our sincere thanks to all partners and professionals who contributed—especially BOA Barge and CEVA Logistics | Fagioli.

With the arrival of the new cranes, Monfalcone is set to further strengthen its shipbuilding capabilities. Each crane delivers an 800-ton lifting capacity, reaching up to 1,600 tons when operating in tandem. Increased operational height and span will enable the handling of ever-larger ship sections and components spanning the full breadth of the vessel.

Designed, manufactured, assembled, and tested in Chioggia, the cranes then completed their journey by sea to Monfalcone. On site, positioning operations—namely the placement onto the rails—have now been completed. Final fitting works, along with testing and commissioning, are currently underway ahead of full operational deployment.
