Telescopic Straddle Carrier installed: 28-ton lifting capacity and continuously variable height under full load
A special rubber-tyred carrier combining battery-electric power and a high-precision telescopic portal to boost stability, safety and operational flexibility.
A new telescopic Straddle Carrier has been installed to optimize heavy-load handling and lifting operations up to 28 tons, featuring a crucial advantage: continuously variable working height even at full load.
The machine operates across a wide height range—from 5.15 m to 7.75 m (total stroke 2.6 m)—enabled by four side telescopic masts with double-stage extension, hydraulically actuated. Thanks to its variable height, the machine can lower to access warehouses/industrial buildings and raise for lifting operations, delivering greater versatility across indoor and outdoor workflows. This makes it particularly suitable for applications that demand adaptability, precise positioning and maximum operational stability.
The architecture combines battery-electric power with a dedicated hydraulic management system for travel, lifting and steering. The hydraulic power unit integrates—in cascade—a 45 kW electric motor, coupling, pumps and valve blocks. On the opposite main beam, lithium batteries, the electrical panel and the inverter are installed, ensuring a compact and functional layout.
Portal lifting is handled by four large double-acting cylinders (one per upright), equipped with load-holding valves and controlled-lowering valves to increase safety. Hydraulic and electrical lines are protected and guided by ABS cable chains, improving long-term reliability and reducing wear during movements.
Designed for industrial logistics and port/intermodal environments, the solution provides a special, high-performance, fully electric lifting carrier that can be configured to specific operational requirements.
